The International Balint Federation

Balint work goes on in many countries and the International Federation was formed in 1972 to co-ordinate thir activites.

Balint Societies in any any country can be affiliated to the Federation and individual membership is available for people in coutries where there is as yet no established Society.

The aims of the Federation are:

  1. To keep members in touch with each other.
  2. To encourage and promote the development of Balint work and Balint Societies all ovet the world.
  3. To advise on group leading and to set a standard for group leader accreditation.
  4. To hold an International Congress every two years.

At present the Federation includes Balint Societies in the following countries: Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Montenegra, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA and United Kingdom.

The first International Congress was in London in 1972. Subsequent congresses were held in Brussels (Belgium) Paris (France) London (again) Cologne (Germany) Montreux (Switzerland) Stockholm Sweden) Zabreb (Croatia) Charleston (USA) Budapest (Hungary) Portoroz (Slovenia) 2001 Berlin, Germany 2003 and Stockholm, Sweden, 2005.

The next international Congress will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, 1-5 September 2007. More information is available on the news page of this website.
